The staff of Fishers of Men, South Georgia Division will join forces again with Columbus Parks and Recreation to host the 12th Annual Columbus Kids Fishing Rodeo. The rodeo will be held at Flat Rock Park on Saturday, September 29th, 2007.
Last year’s event was one of the best ever. Nearly 100 kids and their families met at Flat Rock Lake to test their luck against the local fish population. By lunch-time, over 130 fish were brought to the scales, weighed, and eventually released back into the lake...to be caught again another day. The catch of the day was a huge 7.39 pound catfish, caught by 5-yr old Austin Timmons, fishing in the Wigglers Division. 11th Annual Kid's Fishing Rodeo
We need your help to make this year even better. We would like to have 200 kids and, the more volunteers, the better. If you love kids, enjoy fishing, or understand the value in teaching kids to fish, this is a great event for you to become involved in. Whether you can volunteer your time, make a personal or group donation of prizes or money, or even make a corporate contribution of some sort, your reward will come back quickly to you when you see the face of a kid with a new tackle box, or their first fish.
Volunteering could include being a fishing guide, a scorekeeper, and nearly anything in between. Donations could range from a monetary gift to pay for stocking the lake or printing flyers, door prizes of any sort, or even coupons or gift certificates to be used by the participants and their families. We had some great stuff donated last year; hats, fishing poles, tackle boxes, and other fun stuff.
We’ve got about 90 days to pull everyone and everything together, so please let us know as soon as possible, if you think you could help out in any way.
